Cushion Chaos

Finding the right cushions has been trickier than expected. I have decided they are definietly something that I will change seasonally. I decided from the start of this long decorative journey, that, the floor rug and cushions along with other accessories, would be the colourful and changeable elements in our home. Having said this, these have also been even more difficult than the anchor pieces like our coffee table or dining table and chairs! Who would have thought...

I have accumulated a handful or cushions both summer and winter options. My summers include a turquiose, grey and black zig zag white based cushion, while it's friend has a nice geometric print in navy.

I am thinking one last blue based cushion will tie in nicely.

Thanks to Matchbook Magazine..once again, I have been introduced to Trina Turk's lovely homewares and come across the perfect cushion.

Have a lovely week..

Petals...

It's a long weekend in Sydney & cant wait to get out & about. BUT, should I stay home at all I decided I will attempt to plant the chives & basil Jamie Oliver seddlings I bought the other day. This, a feat enough will hopefully be followed by also attempting to make my window sill look as chic as Julia Restoin-Roitfeld's above.

Have a good day,

Metallic Accents..

I obsess over the use of metallics in a home. Whether they in the form of candlestick holders or wall art (photo 3) I just love the effect is has on the tone of the room. It can make something look glittery, edgy, modern and chic, opulent or even add a simplicity. Just so many options right?

Here are a few looks that have caught my eye...enjoy. xx

Absolutely LOVE the amazing gld table runner & gold tiffany chairs. Just stunning.

Pining over bar carts..

Just like every other piece I have bought for our new home.

I have searched high & low for weeks upon weeks for the right rug & then the perfect cushions let alone decorative mirrors, vases & pieces of art.

So, when I decided that I 'needed' the ever so old hollywood bar cart another official search was on.

They really do present an air of glamour.

And it seems like a perfect & stylish solution for displaying our ever growing selections of wine & spirits. As well as a wonderful way to show off some beautiful glassware we received as weddding gifts.

Here are a few gorgeous carts I have come across while searching for my own.

Just 3 days ago, I came across a simple pine 3 shelved cart that I intend to sand back, paint black & lacquer in a high gloss...

...topped with some kosta boda glasses, a bold vase & blooming flowers & I'll be creating some fabulous fruity cocktails in no time!

Matchbook Magazine

There are very few magazines that encapsulate fashion, photography, lifestyle, art & culture in a way that gets me really excited.

Vogue is beautiful for lust over couture & fashion I can only dream about. The same goes for Harpers Bazaar. As much as I love the images & adverts, the items overall, for a monthly mag, only make me depressed. So many unattainable items ...I dont want to be reminded EVERY single month of what I want but cant have.

Nevertheless, MATCHBOOK MAGAZINE is a FANTASTIC online magazine that I only discovered this week. I am absolutely hooked! I have flicked through every magazine since its inception in January  of this year. I cant wait to sit with a hot cup of coffee & read a few more articles.

It's clever & visually divine. Smart articles alongside fashion finds, lifestyle buys & inspiration.

Do yourself a favour...trust me.

Fab Finds...

I lust over items to the point of obsession...there are moments when the urge to purchase overcomes me....there are others when my partner catches me in the act...I am so naughty...he thinks spending $200 on rubber thongs is 'ridiculous'...my response...'but-- but-- they are MISSSSSOONNIII!!!!"

Nevertheless, here are my new must-have items (they are lust-have I am attempting to justify)..

If plates could be sexy...D.L & Co's Seven Deadly Sins Dessert Plates would be crowned THE sexiest plates in existence. MUST HAVE RIGHT? So chic.
Missoni's collaboration with Havaianas almost makes me giddy...rubber thongs were never a favourite (being quite a shoe snob --at least I admit it)..but now that they are covered with the multi-colour zigzag I have always been so fond of.....

Jonathan Adler's bold patterns always get me so excited! This porcelain vase no less...& wouldnt it look so fabulous with some gorgeous buds.

I can not claim this as my own find..but as a fab house warming gift...isnt this the sweetest tea strainer? Alessi goods are always a dream.

Have a divine weekend,

V.

Sweet Sunday

"Breakfast is the most underrated meal of the day"...that's what my lovely husband said this morning with warm Turkish toast topped with scrambled eggs hovering near this lips. I couldn't agree with him more. With every cafe brimming with people & their children & or puppies I assume we are not the only ones...and aren't Sunday mornings the best time to sit back & have all the cooking done for you?

You would think so, but after enjoying my latte & corn fritters this morning, we sat back and watched my weeks worth of Oprah recordings, aren't the Obama's an inspiring pair?...& then felt the urge to bake- it happens regularly. Last week's Lemon Cake was divine (& just so easy) so this afternoon's choice was Flourless Chocolate Cake...still yet to be devoured.

Although what I am about to mention has been critiqued & slammed here & there I will gladly self confess my obsession with these two.

Katherine Kallinis & Sophie LaMontagne. The sugary sweet sister duo of 'DC Cupcakes'& owners of Georgetown Cupcake.

It is positively, visually tantalising. I love the gorgeous little decorated cupcakes & the candy pink cupcake boxes stacked to the ceiling. The store is to die for pretty & absolutely chic...

It all just really makes me want to grab my lolly pink cardi & a spatula!

Have a wonderful week xx

What's wrong in Oz....

There are no decent floor rugs in Australia...well, there are ..but they are sadly unattainable for numerous reasons!
I have searched high and low and am always drawn to the rugs that are around $10,000! Not exactly in a price range of a soon to be married couple.

I have fallen in love with Jonathan Adler's Moroccan tile inspired masterpieces, Anthropologie rugs that can't be delivered to Oz & a million more designer rugs!

Here are the ones that would really MAKE my living room!

And finally...an actually option! Pretty pattern + a hint of colour + a perfect accompaniment beneath my coffee table!

Happy decorating mes amis <3 V.

VISUAL CANDY...

I thought I had died & gone to heaven.

I watched Sofia Coppola's Marie Antoinette.

I know, I'm a little slow off the mark.

I have wanted to see it for what feels like forever...

From the get go I was in my version of eye candy utopia.

I know it has received extremely mixed reviews mainly due to historical inaccuracies & so forth, or Kirsten Dunst's accent or the fact their are Converse shoes in the background.....etc etc etc.

As a history buff, I understand these reactions but you can't possibly deny Coppola credit (fact & fictions aside) where it is deserved.

It is visually divine.

It really can't get any better for me.

Elaborate costume design in sugary pastel shades, wonderful shoes made by my absolute favourite Manolo Blahnik, plus dainty macarons & all desserts created by Laduree...like I previously said, it really can't get any better can it?

..Whoops....France & Versailles- yes, there we go.

I just realised that I don't think I have ever posted about my love, obsession, absolute passion for Manolo Blahnik. And no, it's not one of those I want to wear Manolo's like Carrie kind of obsessions. Although I completely understand how she made the world fall further in love with his shoes she just makes everything she wears look fabulous.

But, my love is one that borders on crazy person, sweaty palms, heart palpitations kind of obsessive/stalker-ish love. It's not surprising to those who know me, I've loved shoes since birth. I even had big ambitions into making it a career (and still kind of do), for years I sketched profusely, studied Footwear Production/Custom Made & worked alongside a wonderful shoe maker in Sydney's Paddington.  My life has taken me down a completely different path but I'll always have the intention of opening up shop with my own designs.

But until then, I can pine over Manolo's.

What's not to love about a movie filled that's filled with
sweet macaron shades?

Decorative Blooms..

Another homeware crush at first sight.

I had one of these just last week when I saw a Moroccan style Jonathan Adler rug.

Today's episode was almost as fanatic.

It's just so difficult for me to think logically right now with the all these inspiring decorative thoughts I keep having-- due of the fact that my fiance & I will have a new apartment to decorate in a mere few months.

Nevertheless, today's effervescent moment was when I saw these Artecnica light fittings.

They are just so whimsical & beautifully delicate! ...its unquestionable that a woman will smile at the sight of some pretty blooms....& to potentially have this hanging over your dining table is a magical thought.

Artecnica also make these gorgeous pop up greeting cards in the most lovely colour combinations..

And it's here where the crazy jewellery lady in me is exposed. How divine are these little charms. They come in packs of 3's with different little combinations of butterflies & blossoms, little bunnies & chestnuts.

Artecnica can I get one of everything?
